Death was something Bruce seeked, but out of fear of death tried to cover it up through anger. The first half of the film leading up to the first fight with Bane shows a defeated Batman going through the motions. Batman and Bruce Wayne are one in their defeat. ![]() Through the sacrifice of the Batman symbol at the end of The Dark Knight (done to preserve the hope and goodness that Harvey Dent provided the people of Gotham) Bruce Wayne struggled with the reality that Joker had truly won. I think it's important to realize that Batman's spirit is defeated from the start of the film. ![]() ![]() I think I enjoy the Dark Knight Rises more. ![]()
